Keyword research can be a tedious process and understanding its worth might take some time and effort. With Google’s latest updates and its approach towards machine learning can make the SEOs think what would be an ideal keyword.

Even after knowing the importance of this process most SEOs tend to gamble based on multiple reasons and wait for the keyword to rank on its own and before they know its too late.

SEO is one such domain, where there are no set steps or an ideal path to follow, this makes it an interesting domain to work in where you are on your own and you are free to explore the ways of dominating the search.

Coming back to what the topic is about, I tend to lose the focus over the period of the time, are you having the similar issues of losing the focus, this thus reminds me about one thing, is to stick with your keywords which you have to drill down because results ain’t coming for early quitters, this is like planting a tree and you will only eat the fruit if you don’t cut the tree halfway.

Let’s get started…

Get a clear understanding of what you want to achieve or what is the objective.

Once you know it, think about what will you search to get to your product show up on Google, that will be your 1st keyword (We need something to start with right?)

Before we get any further, these are few parameters to keep in mind while doing the keyword research.

1) Search Volume: Make sure you target keywords having a minimum of 1000 monthly searches.

2) Keyword Difficulty: Being competitive is great but it’s great to avoid it. Go for keywords having low competition.

Yes, you’re absolutely right to think about how it will benefit your business by targeting keywords that are less competitive.

Here, suppose you’re selling homemade coffee (eg Keyword Difficulty score: 58/100) and similarly best homemade coffee online (eg Keyword Difficulty score: 28/100) in short two-word keywords would be difficult to rank for, so instead go for long-tail keywords.

How to find long-tail keywords with low competition?

You can do this by using multiple Tools like Kw finder, Moz, SEM rush and Google keyword planner to name a few popular ones in this niche.

Start by entering a two-word keyword into this tools select the desired location if any and hit search, scroll down till you find a long-tail keywords which makes sense to you, once you find few with low competition and high search volume, repeat the same process but this time enter the keywords which you have shortlisted and make a big list, based on the list we can then put more focus on these keywords and extract which will benefit the business and others which aren’t top priorities can be used for writing content for blogs

Also, try searching the keyword term in Google and check for what suggestions are coming and add those to your list too.

This is not over yet, now go hunt for your competitor’s keywords, check for the SERP results, see which keywords are they ranking for, all these information can be searched manually or by the use of any tools, I will suggest do it manually for few of them, this helps you understand the search platform better.

Once you have the competitors keywords, now search for forums related to your niche, you can find these forums by using specific footprints, once you find them, a search of the inner category topic names or topics which members have created you will surely find some gems in there, it would have surely added some rows in the list you prepared.

So if we are on the right page, You will be having these on your list.
